Greinke elected Mariner Prez

Mariner High School has elected Alicia Greinke, president; Rachel Lee, vice-president; Dhana Viswanathan, secretary; Jemilton Panjaitan, treasurer; Anupreet Sidhu and Shauna Harth, parlimentarians; Katelyn Kelly and Kamaria Carnes, public relations; and Amanda Anderson, Mistress of Ceremonies for the 2009 school year.

 

Mariner hosts Poetry Fest and Art Walk

The ICAT Academy at Mariner High School will host Mariner’s First Annual Spoken Word Poetry Festival and Art Walk in the Mariner Commons from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30. 

On display before and during the event will be selected student art-work and video presentations from the classes of four of Mariner’s Visual Art teachers. 

Serving as Masters of Ceremonies will be Mariner Seniors Michael (MJ) Johnson and Erik Lundin as 21 student poets from Mariner and Aces High School compete for the following prizes: First Place, a $50 gift certificate to the Everett Mall, Second Place a $25 gift certificate to Half Price Books and Third Place a $15 gift certificate to Half Price Books. 

Following the poetry competition there will be an open mic.  period featuring staff and students reading their own poems, raps or the poetry of favorite authors.  

Downstairs, people may purchase espresso drinks and snacks from Mariner’s own Blue Thunder Espresso student store.
