I
am writing in support of the EMS Levy Mukilteo residents are currently voting
on.
I
am typically not a supporter of tax increases, but passing this levy is a
must-do, for a couple of reasons.
First,
the quality of life and our health is at times dependent on urgent and highly
trained response capabilities, both of which are provided by our excellent Fire
Department.
Second,
by not funding EMS, the fiscal impact to the department and city is both
extensive and long-range, the consequence being removal of the service and
reduction of the number of firefighters.
In
these times, it is essential we prioritize the city’s revenue and expenditures
– this is a priority.
