The reasons for Mukilteo to pursue annexation is twofold; first, to broaden the tax base and second, to allow the city to better manage the surrounding areas to assure they conform to the model we have for our community.
Both are worthy goals for Mukilteo and to just sit and do nothing, is a decision to let other forces control our future.
Because we can't make this annexation perfect is not a reason to do nothing, Mr. Stoltz (Mukilteo City Councilmember).
The new casino on the Speedway may not be included in the proposed areas to be annexed, but it is a good example of what will happen in the other areas around us if we make no effort at this time to exercise management over them through annexation.
The time for endless talk, ego strutting and ruminations is over.
We need action from City Council and our citizens to preserve the future we all envision. It won't happen unless we act. Putting our heads in the sand won't do it.
There is no standing still. The longer we hem and haw the less likely the outcome will be for the good of our community.
