Mukilteo 5th grader Annamarie Cao stands outside City Hall, where she’ll reign as 2010 Mayor for a Day in Beacon Publishing and Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival’s first essay contest. Cao beat out a lot of outstanding young writers in town to earn the honor, and will ride next to Mayor Joe Marine in the festival parade Saturday.
In this story, I will be telling you why I just love living in Mukilteo. Let’s get started!
In Mukilteo you can go to the beach and go swimming or just play on the playground. The beach is fairly new because they just finished working on it.
Another reason is because you can go on ferries to different islands. Going on ferries is a really fun experience.
If you’re walking to the beach and you hear a rumbling coming from your stomach, you don’t have to worry; there are many restaurants to go to.
If you feel like you’re getting as fat as a walrus, then you should go to the YMCA. I call the YMCA the Y for short.
The Y has a swimming pool, a gym, an exercising room and a room to take care of your kids and other people’s kids. The Y also has many activities. The Y also has sports so you can sign your kids up for basketball or soccer if you have kids or a kid.
There are a lot of parks in Mukilteo. So I’m going to tell you about two parks. One park is Edgewater Park. I live right near it. At Edgewater Park you can play tennis on the tennis court, or basketball on the basketball court.
You can also play soccer on the grass. If you get hungry you can get a snack at the deli.
The last park is on 92nd Street and is called the 92nd Street Park. There are two playgrounds, and one is for babies and the other is for bigger kids.
You can also go hiking with a friend or by yourself. The last thing you can do there is have a nice picnic.
That is why I just love living in Mukilteo with my family!
