Teens in a book group at the Mukilteo Library are going to help pick out the best books for teen readers in the country.
The Mukilteo group, The Write Stuff, will nominate books for the Teens’ Top Ten – teens nationwide will vote for their favorite books each year from that list.
The Teens’ Top Ten is an ongoing project in which publishers of young-adult books provide copies of their recent titles to teen book-discussion groups in libraries.
The Write Stuff is one of 16 public and school library book groups from around the country to participate in the project.
The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association, selected the participating book groups.
In exchange, Mukilteo teen readers will evaluate books from more than 30 participating publishers.
The Mukilteo teen group will begin its term as a Teens’ Top Ten book group in November and will finish its duties in 2012.
