Ethan Kim, 6, of
Mukilteo earned first place in the age 6-12 division of Mukilteo Mirror and
Frame’s first Youth Art Contest, taking the $200 prize as he beat out older
competitors.
Kim and his family saw
his work, Nami and Me, in honor of his beloved dog who passed away, custom framed at last week’s awards
ceremony.
This year’s theme was Faces of Joy; Kim’s work shows he and Nami with truly glowing faces of joy.

Judge Irina Milton,

blue ribbon. Kim earned $200 for taking first place in Mukilteo Mirror and
Frame’s first art contest.
Ella Dahl, 9,earned
second place; Afro Sufi, 9, earned third, and owner’s choice went to Karlee
Robison, 11. Catalina Romo, 9, earned recognition for best abstract, and Tyler
Zastrow, 7 earned honorable mention.
All 36 entries are on
display at Mukilteo Mirror & Frame gallery through Mar. 20.
“It is a delight to see
all of the “Faces of Joy” hanging in a gallery setting and the children were in
awe as they realized that they are truly young artists,” owner Steve Brown
said.
Judge Irina Milton said
she was very pleased to see such heartwarming art.
Brown said he enjoyed
every moment and will sponsor events like this for years to come.
The older group’s awards
ceremony, open to the public, is March 27, and again the winner will receive
$200 plus have their art framed in grand style.
