A 73-year-old Mukilteo woman was killed Thursday when a commercial truck struck her in a crosswalk.

Margaret Fox died instantly in the collision, Mukilteo’s Crime Prevention Officer Cheol Kang said.

The driver, a 32-year-old Mukilteo man, had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Blue Heron Drive and Harbour Pointe Boulevard, and allowed Fox’s companion to cross, Kang said, but apparently didn’t see Fox.

He made a right turn, striking her in the crosswalk.

Kang said the man is cooperating fully with investigators, and no citations have been issued at this time.

“Everyone was in shock; the driver was very upset when he realized what had happened,” Kang said.

The incident is still under investigation, Kang said.
