Car crashes into school bus
A school bus headed to Endeavour Elementary was involved in a traffic accident this morning, according to a Mukilteo School District spokesperson.
Man arrested for threatening to bomb ferry
Service on the Mukilteo ferry was suspended for about two hours this morning after a man threatened to bomb the vessel. There was no actual bomb.
Huge windstorm causes extensive waterfront damage
Ivar’s at Mukilteo Landing was closed Thursday as employees cleaned up damage caused by big waves that slammed into the restaurant early that morning. The storm also caused some damage at the Losvar Condominiums, Silver Cloud Inn, Lighthouse Park and to a Port of Everett fishing pier.
SOC ready for battle on airport’s future; FAA decision on passenger service nearly 2 years overdue

A major winter storm moved into Puget Sound yesterday, and heavy accumulations of snow are expected to fall in Mukilteo this week.
Hazardous material scare at nearby waste transfer station
A garbage transfer station near Paine Field was closed for at least two hours last week until firefighters could confirm a liquid spilled from an unmarked barrel inside the facility was not hazardous.
City calling for community support grant applications
The city of Mukilteo is currently soliciting proposals for community grant projects for the 2012 calendar year.

City's medical marijuana garden rules strengthened
Residents who don’t want any more medical marijuana gardens in Mukilteo can relax – newly revised interim regulations allow no more than one additional garden in the city. Mukilteo City Council on Jan. 3 voted unanimously to further restrict the city’s interim regulations by doubling the distance requirement for “collective gardens” from 500 feet to 1,000 feet.
Council: Same legislative priorities for 2012
Although the city is seeing progress, Mukilteo City Council has adopted a legislative agenda with the same priorities as in 2011. The council on Jan. 3 unanimously approved state and federal legislative agendas for 2012, largely unchanged from last year’s list.
Elected councilmembers sworn in
Emily Vanderwielen, Steve Schmalz, Jennifer Gregerson and Linda Grafer are sworn in to office on Jan. 3 by City Clerk Chris Boughman. The four were recently elected to serve four-year terms on the Mukilteo City Council in council positions 4-7.
Council president, VP to serve again
Mukilteo City Council has appointed Richard Emery to serve for a second term as council president. He ran unopposed.

Suicidal man talked off of train tracks
Mukilteo police talked a reportedly suicidal man armed with a knife off of the railroad tracks on Dec. 29.
City awarded $75,000 for watershed project
Mukilteo was awarded a $75,000 grant from the Washington State Departments of Ecology (DOE) and Commerce to develop a Stormwater Strategies Plan. The city was one of 17 recipients to be awarded a total of $6.3 million for 23 individual projects. The grant awards were announced Dec. 22.

Man who jumped off ferry identified
A man who jumped off the Mukilteo ferry the night of Dec. 11 is believed to have been a 58-year-old Seattle man.
Phase 2 of Sounder Station project set
A second platform for the Mukilteo Sounder Station is scheduled for construction next year, which will allow for easier train commutes.
