PAWS brings adoptable dogs to YMCA

The Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) will be brining adoptable dogs this year to the annual Healthy Kids Day event being held at the Mukilteo YMCA from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 12.

There will be adult dogs of all ages, shapes-even a few puppies.  But, before deciding to adopt please be sure it is a good time to introduce a new family member into your home.

PAWS encourages families to discuss who will be responsible for training, exercising, feeding and cleaning up after their new family member once they come home.  In addition, it is important to think about where the dog will stay when you are not home.

Many behavior problems stem from dogs who are left alone outside in yards all day, or who are not given enough exercise before their families leave for work and school.  A bored dog with lots of energy is one who will find something to do, which sometimes equals a chewed-up couch!

Finally, PAWS encourages families to think about their overall lifestyle, and how much time they will have to devote to a dog.  There are many different breeds of dogs out there, who all of which require different levels of exercise, and all dogs need plenty of love, playtime and training.

PAWS staff will be on-hand at the YMCA Healthy Kids Day event to help make that perfect match between family and dog!
